Parents whose chances of securing a seat had reduced due to high occupancy by the inter-state transfer category can now rejoice as the Directorate of Education (DoE) officially announced that all the applications made under this category stand vacated and all unaided schools will have to conduct a redraw of lots for those applicants who had applied merely on the neighbourhood point basis.
In a notification issued on Thursday, the DoE stated, “With the deletion of points under the inter-state transfer category, the points shall now be determined only as per Neighbourhood, Sibling in School and Parent Alumni criteria. Taking cognisance of the complaints, the DoE constituted inspection teams in every district to assess the quantum of applications and genuineness of the documents submitted in this regard.”
Directing the schools for a fresh draw of lots, the DoE also mentioned it was found that approximately 50 per cent of the open seats were being claimed by the inter-state transfer cases. It also added that the list already declared by schools will have to get modified by vacating the applicants under transfer category. “If the school has conducted draw of lots for those applicants securing 70 points, that draw shall remain valid for the selected/confirmed candidates only. Fresh draw of lots shall be held for remaining applicants having 70 points, including wait-listed applicants,” said the statement.

The last date of display of first list of candidates, including EWS and general category is extended to March 15 and second list, if any, will be March 20.
