One man was killed and four others critically injured in a road accident on Yamuna Expressway on Sunday morning. Police said the victims met with the accident when their speeding Maruti Omni rammed into a truck while trying to tailgate.
The accident took place around 4 am in Mathura region on Greater Noida-Agra side when Pravesh, a resident of Narela, was headed towards Bharatpur district. 75-km from the zero point, his car hit a truck on the stretch.
The car turned turtle on impact and hit a divider. Passersby informed police and the expressway operator. A rescue team rushed the victims to Kailash Hospital where Pravesh (35) was pronounced dead on arrival. other passengers in the car — identified as Ram Khilawan (25), Ajay (35), Akash (24) and Sanjay (28) — are under medical observation. Meanwhile Mathura Police have registered an FIR against the driver of the truck.
Just two days ago, a juvenile court judge from Delhi met with an accident on the Yamuna Expressway on Thursday night while he was on his way to Agra along with his family.Judge C Ramaswamy lost his wife Kavita (35) and his 18-month-old son in the accident. The judge himself and his eight-year-old daughter sustained severe injuries. The accident was reported near Tentigaon along the Yamuna Expressway around 8.30 pm.
