India's largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki Wednesday reported a healthy sales growth of 4.6 percent in total sales, including exports, for September at 109,742 units.
The company sold 104,964 units in September 2013. The company's domestic sales zoomed by 9.8 percent to 99,290 units during the month under review as compared to 90,399 units sold in the corresponding month of last year. However, Maruti Suzuki exported 10,452 units last month, which was a decline of 28.2 percent from 14,565 units sold overseas during the corresponding month of 2013.
Sales in passenger cars segment, which comprises brands like Maruti 800, Alto, A-Star, WagonR, Swift, Estilo, Ritz, Dzire, Celerio and SX4, were higher by 3.1 percent at 81,447 units sold from an off-take of 78,975 units in the corresponding month of 2013. The off-take of utility vehicles like Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga was up by 125.1 percent at 5,980 units from sales of 2,657 units in July 2013.
Sales in van segment that includes brands like Omni and Eeco rocketed by 35.3 percent at 11,863 units from an off-take of 8,767 units in the corresponding month of 2013.
