The National Secretary, Women’s Congress Pushpa Chauhan has embarked State-wide journey to strengthen the party and connect more women to the mainstream politics.
“I have come to examine the participation of women office-bearers of Youth Congress in programmes conducted at booth levels across Jharkhand,” said Chauhan.
Chauhan will participate in a series of programmes across the State with Giridih being the first on her itinerary. The State-wide journey will kick start from tomorrow. Chauhan will attend a party level programme in Hazaribagh on 1 April.
“The programmes are aimed at reaching out to people at village and panchayats in order to strengthen the party,” said president, Jharkhand Pradesh Mahila Congress, Abha Sinha.
The women wing of Congress has set her eye on the lok Sabha elections of 2014 and the programmes are believed to be the test of strength of the party in Jharkhand before the elections.
“Elections are scheduled to be held sometime next year so we need to see the progress on the ground,” said Chauhan.
The visit holds significance considering the uncertain political situation in Jharkhand where parties have started raising voice for dissolution of assembly and holding elections.
