The newly appointed Director General of Information Vinod Sharma took charge on Thursday and held a review meeting with the department’s officials. He obtained information from them on the various programmes and plans and called upon them to work with honesty and dedication. He said special attention must be paid to the progress of various programmes of the department.
The pace of work should be accelerated and information about the Government’s achievement and social welfare schemes must be propagated effectively to the people through the print and electronic media. There is a need to establish better communication with mediapersons. Earlier, Sharma met several representatives of media who congratulated him. Office-bearers of various journalists’ unions also met and congratulated him.
Sharma is also additional secretary (sugarcane development and sugar industry, languages, programme implementation). He has become the additional secretary and DG Information for the third time.
He is an IAS officer of UP Cadre. Before inception of Uttarakhand, he was SDM, Mussoorie and then ADM (administration and finance ), Doon. After formation of Uttarakhand he became additional secretary (transport, civil aviation, sugarcane development and Science and Technology.)
