SJVN limited has been awarded “Caring Companies Award” by World CSR Congress at a function held at Mumbai. The award was received by director (personnel) Nand lal Sharma of SJVN limited.
Sharma is also the chairman of SJVN Foundation, the trust implementing CSR activities of the company. These awards aim at cultivating good corporate citizenship and encouraging strategic partnerships among businesses and non-profit organisations to create a more cohesive society.
The awards also endeavour to promote partnership between business and social welfare sectors.
The award has been conferred upon SJVN in recognition of its socio-economic welfare activities being done in diverse fields.
SJVN has adopted its CSR policy on the basis of guidelines of the department of public enterprise, Union Ministry of heavy industries and public enterprises. To fulfil the objective of CSR Policy, SJVN foundation was constituted as a registered body in October 2011.
The major concerns of SJVN Foundation are Education, Health Care, Community Facilities, Infrastructural Development and assistance during natural disasters.
It has already spent more than `100 crore on various CSR activities, while more than `16 crore will be spent on such activities during the current Financial Year 2012-13.
