Rewa won the title of electricity employees’ Inter-Zone Volleyball Competition. Rewa defeated Sirmaur in the final. Sarni secured the third position. Shriram Pandey was declared player of the tournament.
The badminton title was won by Jabalpur zone while women’s chess title was cornered by Preeti Pandya of Bhopal. The competition was played in BHEl Judo Club here. Central Region Power Distribution Company managing director Kedar Singh gave away trophies and citations to the winners and runners-up as well as winner of singles and doubles events.
Bhopal zone’s chief general manager RK Mishra, members of zonal sports committees, sports lovers and players were present. On the occasion, selection of teams for All-India Women Sports and Indian Women Volleyball competitions were also made.
Competitions of table tennis, badminton, chess and carrom were held in Women’s Inter-Zone Competition. Bhopal defeated Jabalpur in the final of table tennis. From Bhopal’s side, doubles pair of Jyoti Verma and lata Anthony beat Neeta Shrivastava and A Vincent of Jabalpur. The singles title in table tennis was won by Jyoti Verma of Bhopal by defeating lata Anthony of Jabalpur.
Similarly, Jabalpur zone defeated Bhopal in badminton championship. Doubles pair of Renu Tiwari and Priya Patel of Jabalpur beat Rajni Dharte and lata Anthony of Bhopal. In the singles final, Renu Tiwari of Jabalpur defeated Rajni Dharte of Bhopal. In women’s chess, Preeti Pandya of Bhopal zone won the title. Neelam Dhanna of Bhopal zone finished second.
In women’s carrom team final, A Vincent and CR Dhami of Jabalpur Central defeated Prashasti Dey and Neetu Singh of Bhopal. Thus, the carrom title was won by Jabalpur Central. Vincent of Jabalpur Central won the carrom singles title. She defeated Preeti Soni of Bhopal.
