With only a week left for Ranchi Municipal Corporation polls, the district administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure peaceful voting at all the booths. last minute arrangements are being made as per the requirement of each polling booth to avoid any difficulty during the elections, scheduled to be held on April 8.
Ranchi DC-cum-Deputy Election Officer (DEO) Vinay Kumar Choubey said, “We are on time and our preparations are going on as scheduled. Everything is going as planned and we will be able to organise the polls without any hiccups.”
“All cells involved in the election process are working efficiently and in a full-fledged manner,” added Sadar SDO Ameet Kumar.
The DC further stated, “The polling teams have been formed to supervise the voting at around 1830 booths. Currently, they are being trained in holding the upcoming polls. “
“The process for sealing the electronic voting machines (EVM) has been completed and soon they are to be sent to their designated polling booths,” Choubey pointed out.
He further added, “Our transportation arrangements for the civic polls are also complete and the communication system too will be functional soon. Also, the booths have been categorised according to their sensitiveness. As of now, we are discussing the deployment of security forces at each booth depending on the degree of sensitivity of respective booths.”
Though the district administration is planning to deploy central paramilitary forces at highly sensitive booths, but their availability will play a crucial role in this regard.
“If we get the required number of central para-military forces to ensure peaceful proceedings, then it is fine, otherwise, we will be depending on the State police force. We will also be involving district police and home-guards,” Choubey said.
“It is a matter of relief that no case of violation of Model Code of Conduct by the candidates has surfaced during more than a week’s campaigning. It seems that the candidates are following the rules this time,” the DC said.
