The coaches of the proposed double decker train between Habibganj and Indore have been rolled out from Kapurthala coach factory on Friday. The rakes, 15 in number, would reach the State capital by Sunday evening.
Public relation officer (PRO) of Kapurthala coach factory Rajnish Bansal confirmed that a total of 15 of 17 rakes have been rolled out from the factory on Friday evening and handed them over to Northern Railways.
“After conducting the final trial, we have handed over the rakes to northern railway authorities. Now, the Northern Railways is responsible for taking rakes to Bhopal. A total of 15 coaches including 12 passenger and three power car coaches have been rolled out from the factory,” Bansal said. He maintained that a total of 120 chair cars have been installed in a coach and about 1,440 passengers would be able to travel in the train.
An official of Bhopal rail division said the rakes are expected to reach Bhopal by Sunday evening. “The rakes would depart from Kapurthala late on Saturday night. There is a huge traffic in Delhi-Bhopal route due to which it would take around two days to reach Bhopal,” the official said. The trial run of the double decker train would be held in the first week of April, he added.
