Tuesday, 19 February 2013 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said that the proposed Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium will be of international standards. He spoke while presiding over a meeting regarding the cricket stadium and said that tenders should be soon invited for its construction. He categorically said that the quality and timeliness of construction should be kept in mind.

The CM further said sports stadiums at other places in the country should be observed and their good points should be kept in mind while constructing this cricket stadium.

Bahuguna added that the proposed stadium, to be built on 25 acres of land, should have the flexibility for expansion from a capacity of 30,000 spectators to the capacity of 40,000 spectators. He said a club house should also be included that would be a constant source of income.

A sports complex would also be constructed along with the stadium. Present at the meeting were Sports Minister Dinesh Aggarwal, Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain, Principal Secretary Rakesh Sharma, DK Kotia and SS Sandhu.
