PWD engineer was murdered, claims son

Sunday, 31 March 2013 | SR | Bhopal

Controversy shrouds the accidental death of the PWD engineer on Friday at Berasia after his son alleged that his father was murdered by a contractor and SDO of PWD.

The victim’s son Trilok Chaturvedi claimed that Dallu alias Ram Gopal Gupta has threatened his father of dire consequences if his bills are not cleared without delay and the SDO of same department Javed Qureshi used to support him. Dallu has threatened that he would contest the Vidhan Sabha elections and after getting elected he would ruin his career.

Qureshi also used to harass his father and used to demand unconditional support for Dallu and both have conspired against his father and have killed him, told Trilok.

Earlier the victim Rameshwar Chaturvedi while reversing his car fell into a well at Berasia on Friday. The deceased was an engineer with the Public Works Department posted at Berasia.

On Saturday, the body of the deceased was sent for postmortem for the second time after the victim’s relative and his son Trilok Chaturvedi raised allegations that his father was killed when he was not ready to accede to the wrong demands of few people of the area.

The Berasia police are not able to provide any appropriate answer for conducting the postmortem so soon and they have told that the Qureshi pressurised them to send the body for postmortem without delay.

The first postmortem was conducted within few hours of the accident and that too without informing victim’s family members. When the family members came to know that the postmortem has been conducted without informing them they protested and were not ready to receive the body. The SDM intervened and assured that second postmortem would be done.

The body was sent to the Hamidia Hospital on Saturday morning and after the post mortem was completed the body of the deceased was handed over to the family. In the evening, the last rituals were performed.
