In an innovative step to redress the grievances of the electricity consumers, the State power department will hold customer care camps in three divisions of Haridwar district. Department officials said that special focus would be laid by the department to hold the camps especially in the fringe areas of the State and distribution of connections, replacement of old electronic meters and billed electricity bills would be also rectified during the camps that will be hold by the end of this month.

Department officials lamented that Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts of Uttarakhand are among the worst affected in terms of power theft.

Even after taking several measures, the line loss has become a perennial problem in the remote areas of the State. Additionally, customers also fail to submit the electricity bills well before the due date as they receive electricity bills after the due date. Considering the plight of customers, the State power department has decided to hold customer care camps in the Haridwar district to the State.

The camp would be held under different sub-stations including Industrial area, Mayapur, Jawalapur and laljiwala till the month ends. One of the department sources who wished anonymity told The Pioneer that couple of plans is in the pipeline for improving services in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of the State.

He further told that department has been carrying out a special campaign for creating awareness among those villagers who are living in the rural parts of Uttarakhand for the timely payment of their electricity bills.

He said that camps would be proved extremely beneficial for redressing the grievances of the electricity consumers. He said that it will also help the department to curtail outstanding billed amount by encouraging residents to pay the electricity bills.
