The education system of lord Macaulay was the main hurdle in the progress of the country, said Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal and added that the system has not left anything in making the country corrupt and destroying it.
While addressing a symposium on education field and nationality, Agrawal said, in the education system implemented after the independence of the country, in spite of bringing in the glorious history of India, royal methods were implemented. The indigenous side had been conspiratorially hidden in the system so that self respect and dignity might not be awakened in the coming generations, he added.
He said whatever the Government decides that education system is accepted as complete and culture, religion and spirituality-based education that could play a vital role in the person and nation-building has been ignored.
In the symposium organised by the Jeevan Prabandhan Samooh here on Saturday, Agrawal said, today, the definition of religion has been changed. It is the responsibility of the society, mainly the teachers to create the spirit of nationality among the new generation. Then only the over all development of nation could be possible, he added.
He said, “We should try to give better education to the children by citing the examples of the great men”. Main speaker of the symposium, famous story teller Pandit Vijay Shankar Mehta, while speaking about the definition of nationalism, said that thinking for the nation with body, mind and money is nationalism. Today’s education system lacks thoughts, whereas, with thoughts only personality and character is build, he added.
