law & order a problem in Prez Rule: Bhattacharya

Sunday, 31 March 2013 | PNS | Ranchi

The CPI (Ml) expressed their reservations on the Chatra skirmish between the Maoists and Tritiya Prastuti Committee extremists that left around 10 Maoists dead. The battle took place on Thursday near lakarbandha in Chatra.

Talking to mediapersons, general secretary, CPI (Ml), Dipankar Bhattacharya said the Police’s version of the incident, a battle of supremacy between two warring extremists outfits, “is not credible”.

Upping the ante on Police Bhatacharya said, “There are reports that around 20 to 25 people were abducted on the day of the incident,” adding “it is the responsibility of the Police to ensure their safe return.”

The CPI (Ml) has joined the bandwagon of the parties criticising the President’s Rule in Jharkhand in the wake of killings and other incidents across the State.

“The killings that are happening in the State in the President’s Rule are not in the interest of the State,” said Bhattacharya and cited it to be a problem having long term implications on the law & Order situation of the State.

Bhattacharya joined the chorus demanding elections in the State and said “in the next elections people will give befitting reply to those who were in the Government.”

Significantly, the party is organising a nationwide Conference in Ranchi from April 2 to 6 which is likely to be attended by domestic as well as foreign left ideologues. As many as 1,200 guests from 20 States of India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Australia are likely to attend the conference.

Interestingly, representative from parties such as CPI, CPM, Revolutionary Socialist Party (India), Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxists, and left parties’ senior leaders will attend the conference.

“I can sense that the coming together of so many left parties is a harbinger to the something significant,” said Bhattacharya. Elaborating on the schedule Bhattacharya said, “Around 12 proposals will be passed in the conference.”
