BJP parliamentarian and editor of party mouthpiece ‘Kamal Sandesh’ Prabhat Jha has termed as ‘disgraceful, insensitive and inhuman’ for the recent remarks of former Supreme Court judge and Chairman of Press Council of India (PCI) Justice Markandey Katju against journalist Deepak Chourasia, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leader Arun Jaitley.
In a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday, Jha has requested to take appropriate action against the PCI Chairman for the remarks.
In the letter, Jha has stated that the comments by the PCI Chairman against Indian leadership and the media in past few years are embarrassing for every Indian.
“His comments against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi are not only deplorable but also against the dignity of a Supreme Court judge. Whatever he has written against Modi and Jaitley in an article, is a matter of grave concern for the whole country,” he has written.
Jha has also stated that the way Katju has misbehaved with Deepak Chourasia who is a well-known face of Indian journalism, raises serious doubts on his capacity as Supreme Court judge.
