Sunday, 31 March 2013 | SR | Rajnandgaon

In a heartrending incident four members of a family including husband-wife and daughter met their watery grave, in Shivnath River near Mohra anicut, Rajnandgaon after the auto in which they were sitting jumped into the river from the old bridge at the river on Saturday.

Station House Officer Basantpur informed that the deceased have been identified as Yogesh Bhoir (35) his wife Vasundhara Bhoir (30) their daughter Taniska (9) and Suresh Yadav (35) all residents of Kehsar Nagar, Rajnandgaon.

“Yogesh Bhoir was an auto driver and his wife Vasundhara was suffering from some ailment. After consulting doctor, the family accompanied by Suresh Yadav living in same area had reached the old bridge to flow some religious remains in the river,” said the SHO.

SHO further said “the auto (CG-04 T-1762) was parked on the bridge and after throwing religious remains they sat in the tempo and suddenly auto jumped into the river. It seems that the driver would have applied back gear by mistake due to which the tempo fall down into the river,” SHO said and added that the river is about 25 feet deep at that mishap spot.

Immediately after the incident police reached on the spot and divers dived into water but could not save the ill-fated family members. After a long and tedious effort the auto was pulled out of water and bodies were fished out. Police informed that the family has been survived by a daughter and son. A case in this connection has been registered with Basantpur police station.
