The fancy number “CH01-AR-0001” went for a whopping amount of Rs10,05,000 in an auction of new “CH-01-AR” series held by the UT Registering and licencing Authority (RlA) on Monday.
Mehant Chotu Nath, a resident of Chandigarh, was the highest bidder during the auction and paid Rs10,05,000 to buy “CH01-AR-0001” for his car Audi Q7 worth Rs55 lakh. Eight applicants had applied for “CH01-AR-0001”.
Fancy number “CH01-AR-0009” was auctioned for Rs4 lakh. A total of 10 applications were received for the vanity number.
The auction of the fancy numbers started at 10 am at RlA and continued till late evening on Monday. Overall, RlA auctioned 157 VIP numbers during the auction.
The RlA had received over 550 applications for the allotment of these 157 fancy numbers.
After collecting only Rs13.96 lakh during the previous cancelled auction of the series, the RlA on Monday managed to rake in huge profits.
The previous auction of the “CH-01-AR” held on January 17 was cancelled by RlA following the allegations that certain bidders formed cartels to bring down the bids. During the previous cancelled auction, the number CH01-AR-0001 had fetched the highest bidding amount of Rs3.51 lakh and around 106 applications were received for allotment of 39 fancy numbers.
