Cong will issue poll tickets on basis of survey: Mahant

Sunday, 31 March 2013 | SR | Raipur

Union State Minister for Agriculture Charandas Mahant said the Congress party would not seek applications from the candidates for the distribution of tickets for Assembly elections in the State, but tickets would be issued three months in advance on the basis of the survey report. It can be reminded that Assembly elections are due by the end of this year.

He said neither he would fight the Assembly polls, nor he is claimant for the Chief Minister post. In a Press conference held here on Saturday, the Union Minister said that all were working together to bring the Congress Government in Chhattisgarh. Several applications for the Assembly elections have been received from the candidates, but they would not be given ticket on that basis.

A Central team has been conducting a survey in the State and on the basis of the survey report and according to the possibility of winning the seat, tickets would be distributed to the candidates. No separate measure for this, he added.

On projecting the chief ministerial candidates, Mahant said there was no decision to fight the Assembly election by projecting any particular face for the Chief Minister post. The Congress believes in common leadership and on that basis the party had been fighting the elections. The party would get support of all from youth to aged in the election and all the leaders were making efforts to establish the Congress Government in the State, he added.

On the CAG report, Mahant said that due to the wrong policies of the State Government the State and State exchequer had to suffer loss. When the report of the Centre comes, the Ministers and the leaders immediately used to give their statements, but on the CAG report on the State the leaders of the State hesitate to give any statement, he said.

He said a CBI inquiry should be initiated in the issues raised in the CAG report so that the guilty officers could be punished.

On the Bhadaura scam, the Union Minister said it was not proper to make allegations against one particular person. He said all those who were involved in different scams would be targeted one by one. Again agitations would be launched by the State Government in these cases, he added.

On the admission of the Nationalist Congress Party leader and former MlA Noble Verma into the Congress party, Mahant said, it seems that all the Congressmen would be in one accord in this matter.

He said railway projects for Chhattisgarh State have been sanctioned not because of the efforts of the State Government, but the Union Government. The officers did not show the ground reality, due to which the railway project towards the constituency of the Chief Minister could not be sanctioned, the Minister added.

All Ministers in State corrupt, says Minister

Raipur: Union State Minister for Agriculture Charandas Mahant said here on Saturday that the State Congress would take out ‘Parivartan Yatra’ across the State on April 12. During the yatra that would be continued till May, the workers of Block Congress would go door to door and inform the people about the scams and irregularities committed by the State Government. When asked the names of corrupt Ministers in the State, Mahant said all the Ministers in the State are corrupt, including that of their chieftain.
