State Congress lashed out strongly against the Governor’s address on the opening day of the Assembly, terming it as an “empty rhetoric” of self-aggrandisement by the BJP Government while every section of the population in the State suffer.
“This was an address by the ghosana-veer Chief Minister to boast about his achievements while the common people continue to suffer in the State,” alleged leader of Opposition Ajay Singh on Monday.
Singh alleged that the grand statistics of development that was presented in the Governor’s address is contrary to the ground reality.
“The BJP Government which claims that agriculture is growing at the rate of 18 per cent and also that the State has been awarded for its achievements in agriculture here avoid answering the question why farmers in the state are not happy. Why agriculture has not become a profitable occupation and why farmers continue to commit suicide in the State,” remarked Singh.
Referring to the recent incident of rape and murder of a girl-child near the residence of the Home Minister, Singh said, “The address had no hint of any sympathy for the girl, whereas Congress Chief Minister is Delhi was deeply moved by the Delhi gang-rape incident. Women are not safe here. Even areas around the bungalows of Chief Minister or the Home Minister are not safe, what to talk of the whole State.”
“The State Government is silent over the rising corruption, deteriorating law and order situation and worsening communal harmony. The intent to control these menaces was completely absent from the address,” Singh said.
