Aam Aadmi Party tried to get a case of abduction and attempt-to-rape registered against Indira Colony ward councillor’s nephew Sinku. He had molested a 15-year-old girl while she was on her way to appear in class XII board examination at Phoolchand Nari Shilp Inter College on March 11. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members — led by its Dehradun district convener Sanjay Bhatt — took out a rally from Gandhi Park to the office of Senior Superintend of Police (Dehradun) on Saturday.
The AAP members submitted a memorandum to SSP Kewal Khurana and also demanded from him to provide security to the victim and her family members as they were being threatened by the accused and their family members. The agitators warned that the party will intensify its protests across the State if demands are not met within a week.
Bhatt said that the offence was committed by two youths of the same locality but police had arrested only one accused till date.
He further said that the victim was going to the examination centre on March 11 when she was molested by Sinku and his friend. The offenders ran away within a few minutes from the spot after residents started gathering at the spot.
Bhatt said that their demands include police should register a case of abduction and attempt to rape against the accused in the Kotwali police station, stringent action should be taken against Kotwali police for not registering a case under appropriate sections of IPC against the accused, the inquiry officer of this case should also be changed and police should provide security to the victims’ family or else they will stage protest in the near future.
He appealed the SSP to fulfill their demands within a week otherwise AAP would intensify its protest across the State. Other party members participated in the protest were Rajesh Bahuguna, Suresh Negi, Raju Singh, Saheb Singh Panwar, Durga Devi, Manoj Kamboj, Mahesh Mamgain and others.
