5 admitted to hospital after consuming 'tea'

Five people including three children and two women were admitted in the People’s hospital at Qazi Camp after reporting dizziness and vomiting which was caused after drinking ‘tea’ at Gunga area of the State capital. Condition of two children is reportedly critical.

On Wednesday at around 6 pm five members of a family Geeta Bai(45), Sangeeta Bai (26), Meena (15), Bhavana (6) and Anil Singh (17) of Karond Khurd village under Gunga police station area after drinking tea started vomiting and felt dizzy. The situation of the victims started deteriorated further and they were not able to stand after which with the help of the locals the family members were rushed to People’s hospital at Qazi Camp, informed Parvat Singh father of victim Anil Singh.

Parvat Singh said all the patients have been undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital but the condition of Sangeeta, Meena and Anil was critical till the filing of this report. He provided the name of the tea as Right Bru which is not a renowned brand.

The doctors are not able to ascertain the reason of the illness but the family claims that the tea might have completed its shelf life but it was not mentioned on the packet.

When the Gunga area police were contacted they expressed ignorance on the matter. Till the filing of the report police investigations have not been started.

The victim Anil Singh told The Pioneer that all the before the tea the family members were fine and healthy but as soon as they drank the tea. They started vomiting and after sometime they all complaint of dizziness and were rushed to hospital.

Meanwhile failing to get money for alcohol from his wife a 45 year old man committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at his Bapuram Nagar house on Wednesday. 

According to the police, the victim, Sitaram Dhanore was found hanging in his house on Wednesday evening. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. The victim used to stay at home while her wife used to work. At time of the incident his wife was not present in the house.

The wife of the victim had gone to work on Wednesday. She works as maid in the near by locality. The victim used to fight with her demanding money. The police have registered a case under the Section 174 of the CrPC and have sent the body for the post mortem.
