Around 261 patients were operated at the week-long surgical camp organised by NTPC at its hospital at Chhattisgarh’s industrial town Korba, a Press statement of public sector power major NTPC ltd informed here on Saturday.
The camp is an annual exercise of NTPC to reach out to the affected lot in this tribal belt of Chhattisgarh. While 66 patients were operated for hernia, around 195 were operated for hydrocele cases this time. Over 341 had registered themselves during the camp which was completed recently.
According to the available statistics, while 228 hydrocele and hernia patients were operated in 2011-12, 275 patients were operated in 2010-11 and 514 were operated in 2009-10 and around 525 hydrocele and hernia patients were operated in 2008-09.
The 2600-MW power station of NTPC has been conducting this jointly with Red Cross Society and District administration as an initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibility. Besides, the station also conducts eye camp, malaria, asthma, BMD camps on regular basis throughout the year.
