Semifinalists of U-19 cricket

Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda and Cuttack-A would meet Cuttack-B and Bhubaneswar-B respectively in the semifinal rounds of the Inter-District U-19 Cricket Tournament at different grounds in Cuttack from April 1 to 4.

The six wickets haul by Rakesh Pradhan of Balasore gone to vain while team suffered defeat from Jharsuguda by five wickets at Ravenshaw Ground in Cuttack on Saturday. In others matches of the day, Cuttack-A and B gathered first innings lead against Keonjhar and Angul respectably from the drawn match.

Sambalpur to meet Cuttack in Gold Cup

Bhubaneswar: Defending champion Sambalpur Sports Hostel would meet Cuttack Sports Hostel in the Biju Pattnaik Gold Cup Football Tournament at Kalinga Stadium on Sunday.

Earlier in the semifinals Monday, Sambalpur edged out Keonjhar Sports Hostel by 1-0 goal. The all important goal scored by Rudra Prakash Pradhan in the 14th minute. In another match, Bhabagrahi Padhiary scored double goals and guided Cuttack to pipped Sundargarh by 3-0 goals. After the barren first half, Bhabagrahi opened the flood gate in the 35th minute and Niranjan Sardar double the lead in the 40th minute. However, Bhabagrahi nailed the final goal in the 49th minute. In the quarterfinal matches on Monday,  Sambalpur beat Kalahandi by 2-1 goal via through penalty struck. Keonjhar thrashed Baripada by 2-0 goals. The champion would receive the trophy along with cash prize of Rs 10,000 and the runners-up to be richer by Rs 7,000. 

Bajarangbali wins Football league

Bhubaneswar: Bajarangbali Club, Ghatikia defeated Bramheswar Cultural Association by 2-0 goals in the 10th Gatikrushna Memorial Bhubaneswar Football league at Unit-1 High School Ground here on Saturday.In the one-sided match, Bajarangbali Club got the lead through the goal by Santosh Nayak in the 21st minute. After the change of sides, Basudev Dehuri scored the final goal in the 68th minute. Susanta Kumar Mishra, Sudeepta Das, Pradipta Nayak and Somanath Barik were the officials for the match. In the league match on Sunday, Tiger Youth Club would meet Department Of Sports team.
