BJD member Pradeep Maharathy on Monday demanded in the State Assembly that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik make a statement on the alleged nexus between Odisha Jan Morcha leader and Rajya Sabha member Pyarimohan Mohapatra and the Maoists.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik must tell the House about the alleged link between Mohapatra and the Maoists, Maharathy said.
A similar voice was also echoed by BJP leader KV Singh Deo and leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh of the Congress, both demanding a statement from the Chief Minister and a ruling from the Speaker in this regard. They referred to an FIR filed against Mohapatra at a police station in Bhubaneswar.
Singh also alleged that the Chief Minister and his BJD are hands in glove with the Maoists. For an instance, he pointed out that BJD lok Sabha member Prasanna Patsani on Saturday attended a meeting marking the death anniversary of Naveen Patnaik’s mother Gyan Patnaik at Ranpur organised by Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda’s wife Milli Panda.
