The Gujarat Government would introduce at least half a dozen Bills in the Budget Session of the newly-elected Assembly.Finance Minister Nitin Patel would present the State’s Budget on February 20.
The controversial lokayukta Act (Amend) Bill, which was returned by Governor Kamla Beniwal earlier, is likely to be re-introduced during this Session of the Assembly.
The Bill seeks to bring office bearers of the local self-government bodies under the ambit of the lokayukta.Among the other Bills to be introduced is the one to start a Yoga university in the State.
The university is likely to have international status, a response to rising global interest in Yoga.A Bill for establishing a Skill Development University is also to be introduced in the Gujarat Assembly as part of the State Government’s emphasis on improving the human resources in the state as per the new requirements.
Other Bills to be introduced include the Irrigation and Drainage Bill, Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management Bill, Gujarat Fire Safety Bill, the Co-operative Societies (Amend) Bill and the Public Trust (Amend) Bill, among others.
