Philip Kotler in India

Marketing guru Philip Kotler will be in India in for a workshop organised by JRE Management Institute to be held on March 14, 2013. The workshop will centre around the emerging trends and tools of marketing for the future with special emphasis on digital and social marketing.

Philip Kotler is going to be in Delhi after a gap of almost 15 years. His visit coincides with the growing emphasis on skilling in India as well as recognition of India as a source of high quality managerial acumen.

The full-day certified training programme titled Eight ways to Grow Your Market share: The Future of Marketing, by Kotler will be open for delegates of the level of vice-esident and above. Delegates need to register in advance for the programme which will be limited to just 700 seats. The full-day workshop will end with a gala dinner with Dr Philip Kotler for select 100 CEOs, COOs and CMOs.

Speaking on the occasion Harpreet Singh, president, JRE Group of Institutions said: “It is a privileged to host Prof Philip Kotler in India. We have been diligently working on bringing eminent researchers from all over the world to explore important areas of management, critical for development of professionals in India. This workshop promises to be a turning point in emerging thinking on marketing.”

Convocation at XlRI

XlRI, is all set to hold the 57th Annual Convocation on March 23, 2013 at the campus in XlRI Tata Auditorium, Jamshedpur.

This year, Shiv Nadar, founder & chairman, HCl, Shiv Nadar Foundation will be conferred the prestigious Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace at the event by H M Neruakar, chairman, Board of Governors, XlRI and MD, Tata Steel.

Speaking on the occasion Fr E Abraham SJ, director XlRI said: “Convocation is an important milestone in the life of every student, faculty, and staff. It is the culmination of all the efforts put in by an individual during their time at the campus. This year we have decided to honour Shiv Nadar with Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Social and Industrial Peace.”

Admissions open

The University of Sheffield’s Management School invites applications for MSc in entrepreneurship programme. The 12-month programme aims to bring together theoretical and applied aspects of entrepreneurship in different contexts.

The university is focused on ensuring that the programmes they offer successfully prepare students for whichever career path they choose. The academics and business engagement team work closely with practitioners from a wide range of industries and organisations to ensure the proper understanding of the professional, commercial and political demands of the world in which the graduates work.

The school, which is rated among the UK’s top 20 management schools, is among the top one per cent of business schools worldwide with triple accreditation from AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB, an honour that has been bestowed on only 58 Schools worldwide.

two-day festival

ERAbrations, the two-day annual fest washeld at Era Business School (EBS) at its campus. The theme of the festival was Towards a Progressive India with Safety & Empowerment of Women. The fest was inaugurated by SD Sharma, former member, Railway Board and Rashmi Bharana, member of Board of Governor, EBS with the pledge taken by the students towards the safety of women in India.

ERAbrations 2013 was an endeavor to stretch the intellectual and creative capabilities of the students.

Enhancing ones potential or talent alone cannot make an artist. There has to be a motivational force behind the creativity and inherent talent of the students.

Thus with this aim, ERAbrations was organised to provide a pulpit to the students for exhibiting their multifarious skills. The innovative events and attractive rewards made the event’s experience even more riveting.

Commenting on the theme Sanjeev Marwah, director EBS said: “The fest aims to provide a common platform to all the students from different B-schools. Boys and girls can come together on one platform which will help to bring about gender equality.”

Development programme

One-day faculty development programme was organised at JB Knowledge Park in Faridabad. The programme aimed at training the staff with the latest in gadgets and technology, was chaired by Ajay Singh advisor and CEO, Success Mantra and Vikas Mehra  training and placement head, Manav Rachna.

Addressing the faculty members, Harshit Sinha dean, JB Knowledge Park, stated that the institution believes in continuous learning and improvement. Since the technology advances fast, faculty at any engineering institution can impart the best of education only when they are always up to date with the latest in the industry. It therefore, translates into enhancing quality education and benefitting our students.

Mehra appreciated the event and referred that such an event becomes a mandate due to rapidly changing technology. Illustrating further he recalled Moore’s law which states that the number of building blocks in any electronic device doubles approximately every 18 months.

Applications invited by Macquarie

Macquarie announces admissions in physical science and environmental sciences. These three year full-time/equivalent part-time bachelor degree programmes are suitable for the students who wish to enhance their problem solving skills to the environment, physical sciences and are interested in science, sustainability and environmental management.

The eligibility to apply for the courses is 10+2.

National science day at dpgitm

With the objective to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect by eminent Indian scientist CV Raman, DPG Institute of Technology & Management (DPGITM) celebrated National Science Day with the students in the college. The focal theme for National Science Day 2013 stands as Genetically Modified Crops and Food Security.

Addressing the gathering of students and faculty, principal DPGITM, JS Mahanwal said that the college is celebrating this occasion not only to create awareness and enthusiasm among the students but also to popularise science and technology to strengthen scientific temper among the pupil.

The DPGITM chairman, Rajendra Gahlot stated that the effects of science are clearly visible in changing lifestyles. Each year the Government declares a focal theme for discussions and recognitions.

This is the institute’s attempt to encourage students to scientifically embark their passion for new research and innovation.

The one day programme was divided into an overview and two sessions.
