The cyberwar between India and Pakistan is all set to intensify in the days to come. The Pakistan Cyber Army, an unidentified group of Pakistani hackers, has announced that they will avenge the latest attack on as many as 30 Pakistan Government websites by Indian hackers.

Known as Indishell, the Indian hackers compromised the Pakistani Government websites including those of the navy, foreign affairs, Sindh police and Pakistan  Government information website. At least two of the hackers of the Indishell are also part of the Indian Cyber Army. The cyber attack is claimed to be a payback from Indian hackers to their Pakistani counterparts for recent attacks against key Indian websites.

In the attack by the Indishell, hackers were able to gain complete control over a web server where all the hacked websites were hosted.

“We strongly believe that Pakistani Government has a strong alliance with Pakistani hackers to attack on Indian websites, this was a lesson for them to bring this to halt. And we will keep teaching them till the time they don’t get the message correctly,” says an anonymous quote by hackers.

Cyber security expert and Director at Torrid Networks Dhruv Soi says, “Cyber attacks between the two countries are getting more frequent than before and now we observe such attacks almost on daily basis. Cyber attacks will never die on the internet, and systems should be fully secured to handle it.”

Other sites hacked include those of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan Military Accounts Department, Project to Improve Financial Reporting and Auditing, Sindh Government, Heavy Mechanical Complex, National Institute of Oceanography and a host of other websites.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cyber Army had hacked a number of Indian Government and Public Sector Undertaking websites including those of the Central Bureau of Investigation, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. Besides those of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi profile page.

The Pakistan Cyber Army has so far hacked over a 100 Indian websites triggering retaliation by the Indian hackers, including the Indian Cyber Army on as many Pakistani websites.

With Internet becoming a common ground for conflict between the countries, the role of official organisations, semi-official and unofficial groups will continue to mount, say cyber security experts.
