Former Bengal BJP president Tathagata Roy who was on Wednesday arrested on alleged charges of inciting violence by the police was on Thursday granted by a Chinsurah court, sources said.

The Government did not oppose bail sources added. Roy had been arrested on a number of charges after the local court had rejected his plea to regularise an anticipatory bail given by the High Court.

“He was framed under frivolous charges by the Government for political vendetta as he went to ensure returning of the party in their villages. These men had been driven out by the Trinamool Congress after elections,” BJP president Rahul Sinha said.
