Delhi decks up for festival

The country is set to host the biggest ever international green festival screening 114 films picked up from 15 countries.

The five-day event beginning December 6 will be witnessed by film luminaries as Shyam Benegal, Prakash Jha and Basu Chatterjee.

Organised by CMS Vatavaran, the theme of the festival is “Biodiversity Conservation”, which also happens to be in sync with the forthcoming Convention on Biological Diversity, in October 2012.

It would be inaugurated at the Convention Centre opposite Jantar Mantar here by eminent conservationists George Shaller and AJT Johnsingh. A highlight of the programme would be the children’s section, which would be attended by more than 50 schools. Eighteen Indian and 9 international awards worth Rs 15 lakhs would be given on the occasion.
