Temperature rising: Action plan on agriculture on anvil

PNS | Bhubaneswar

Agriculture Minister Damodar Rout on Tuesday said in the State Assembly that the rising temperature of the climate was having an adverse impact on agriculture. “We are making an action plan to save the agriculture. The World Bank is providing the necessary assistance to this effect,” said Rout.

Giving a reply of the queries of the members on the floor of House, Rout said the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) had not submitted any report regarding reduce on production of paddy due to rising temperature.

"However, the OUAT has submitted a proposal to the State Government to open an agriculture-climate department to conduct study of the changing climate in Odisha. " The Indian Council of Agriculture Research has started two national projects in the campus of the OUAT," he said, adding that an automatic machine has also been purchased to study the climate and atmosphere.
