BJD to bring 4 resolutions against Central Government

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday asked all BJD MLAs to ensure their presence on the floor of the Assembly both in the morning and afternoon sessions. “There are many issues which should be taken up for the development and progress of the State,” said Patnaik after presiding over the BJD legislature party meeting in the Assembly premises.
On the issue of allegations regarding the mining scam, Patnaik said all allegations were false and baseless. “For the last 10 years, the Opposition parties are raking up all these issues. We are prepared to face the Opposition,” said Patnaik.
Patnaik also asked his party members to ensure that all developmental works reached the door steps of the poor. “We are spending about Rs 1,600 crore from the State’s resources in executing developmental programmes like Biju KBK, Biju Gajapati and other schemes. The MLAs should make sure that developmental works reached the common people,” he said.
Later briefing the media, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Raghunath Mohanty said all members have been directed to participate in the debate in democratic way. “We have been prepared to discuss any issues on the floor of the issue,” he said.
To counter the move of the Opposition, the BJD has decided to bring four resolutions against the Centre. “We will move resolution against the Centre for neglecting the cause of Odisha in the field of railway, for not increasing mine royalty in a regular manner and not giving its due share to the State, Centre’s negligence in providing help to the State to face the Maoist menace and Government’s failure to provide flood assistance to the State,” Mohanty added.
On the first day, the Government will present the 1st supplementary budget. The appropriation bill would come on November 27 and discussion on various departments would be held on November 24, 25 and 26.
In the meeting, MLA Pradip Maharathi said the Agriculture Minister Damodar Rout must talk on the lines of the Government programmes initiated by it for the development of farmers. “Rout should not talk any thing irrelevant,” he added. MLA Rajendra Dholkia maintained that there is a chance of distress sale of paddy and other food items in the coming days. “The Government should prepare to tackle it,” he added.
