A youth was found dead with his throat slit in the Maidalpur forest under Papadahandi block in Nabarangpur district on Sunday evening.
The deceased was identified as Ramu Bhatra (20) of Jhadakusumi village under the Papadahandi police station.
According to reports, Ramu went from home with two youths by a motorcycle on December 5. But when he didn’t return at night, his parents lodged a missing complaint with police on December 6.
On Sunday evening, some locals spotted the body and informed his family member. Later Ramu’s parents reached the spot and identified his body. Police have sent the body for postmortem and started investigation.
Several liquor bottles were found near the body, sources said.
