The carcass of a tiger found on Saturday evening in the Dhela range of Corbett tiger reserve was disposed off after veterinarians conducted a post mortem examination on Sunday. According to departmental officials, the death of the tigress is believed to have been caused by injuries resulting from a fight with another big cat.
Staff on patrol during Saturday night had come across the body of the tiger in Dhela. The department staff took possession of the body on which the post mortem examination was conducted on Sunday.
According to the sub divisional officer Ramakant Tiwari informed that the tigress was aged about five years. As a result of the fight with another tiger, the tigress had a broken jaw and a bone of her neck was also found to be broken, he said.
