Chhattisgarh State Assembly Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant will inaugurate a three-day State level Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Fair (Krishi Mela) at Bemetara Krishi Mandi premises on February 22 at 4pm.
Agriculture and water resources minister Ravindra Choubey will preside over the inaugural function. Experts in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, water management will interact with farmers on the improved techniques in agriculture during the fair which will conclude on February 24.
The theme of the fair is ‘Narva, Garuva, Ghurva and Baadi (NGGB). The subjects such as management of rain water resources, why and how to renovate rivulets, soil and water conservation based on land type, higher production, development of kitchen gardens, fisheries and other related topics will come up for discussion.
Inspecting the preparation, Choubey said that a decision has been taken to open a‘Horticulture University’ in the state.
The main aim of the state government is to strengthen the farmers economically, he said, adding food processing plant will be planted as per needs.
The government also announced that Bemetara Agriculture Produce Market will be declaredas ‘E-Mandi’ so that farmers of the region can sell their produce online and also seek market rates. Cultural programmes will also be organised during the event.
