Rural dispensaries of Punjab set to undergo transformation

To make the top-notch healthcare amenities available to the inhabitants of State’s rural areas, Punjab Government has decided to provide all required facilities to the rural areas’ dispensaries.

“The State Government would soon recruit 460 Medical Officers for which the process has been started. Clear instructions have been issued in this regard to the departmental officers,” said the State Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa on Tuesday.

The Minister said that medicines and other necessary paraphernalia would be provided in the rural dispensaries. For this purpose, medicines worth more than Rs  48.30 lakh have been sent to the dispensaries in the rural areas. Apart from this, orders for purchasing Rs  2.58 crore is being placed for the next three months.

Directing the Department’s officers, Bajwa said that strict vigil be maintained over the process of providing top notch healthcare amenities to the people in the rural area dispensaries.

He also directed that the staff of the dispensaries must be punctual and the patients must not face any difficulty.

At the same time, directions were also given to prepare a project with regard to transforming the dispensaries situated in the rural areas so as to ensure better facilities to the people.
