Raipur DEO bans mobile phones in schools

Raipur District Education Officer has issued a notice, to all the Block Education Officers, principals and headmasters of schools of Raipur district to ban the cell phones in the schools.

The notice issued by the Raipur DEO A N Banjara to all the block education officers, Principals and head masters of government, government aided Higher Secondary and High Schools, states, “During the inspections of schools it was found that  boys and girls are using the mobile phones which is affecting the teaching and learning including other school activities. It was also brought to the notice that the mobile phones are being misused.”

“Therefore, it is being directed that students both boys and girls should be refrained from bringing cell phones in the school by advising them. The students and their parents should also be counselled on the rational side of the aspect,” states the order.

The order states that it is not limited to the government and aided schools; it will be effective for the private schools also.

Since long the school education department has been trying to come up with a guideline on the use of cell phones in schools but it is for first time such an order has been issued.
