Police have sent the viscera of Tabrez Ansari (24), who fell prey to mob lynching, to the Ranchi-based forensic science laboratory for chemical examination. Police officials informed that though no fresh arresting has been made, yet their focus is on the reasons that led to his death.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand Pradesh Mahila Congress on Wednesday demanded Rs 50 lakh compensation and a Government job for Shaista Parveen, wife of Tabrez Ansari.
Tabrez, who was in judicial custody after the attack at Dhatkidih village in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, about 35 Km from Jamshedpur, on June 18 during which the mob allegedly forced him to chant "Jai Shri Ram", died at the Seraikela Sadar Hospital on June 22.
The victim, Tabrez, a resident of Kharsawan, was caught after stealing a motorcycle, a purse, a voter I-card and cellphone from Dhatkidih along with two of his associates. He was nabbed by a group of villagers.
Seraikela-Kharsawan superintendent of police, Karthik S said he has set up a three-member high-level team comprising SDO, Seraikela, SDPO, Headquarters and civil surgeon.
A 30-member delegation of the party's women wing, led by Jharkhand Pradesh Mahila Congress president Gunjan Sinha, met the widow-Shaista Parveen and other members of the family at their house at Kadamdih in Kharsawan this afternoon.
“We are here to demand justice. We condemn the incident. It is a matter of shame for the entire humanity," commented Sinha soon after meeting the bereaved family members.
The delegation comprised 30 women Congress members from various districts including senior functionaries—Puneeta Chaudhary, Gouri Mallick, Sundari Tirkey, Neela Nag (president of women Congress of Seraikela-Kharsawan district), Shakeela Bano and Roshan Khanam (both state secretaries).
Sinha said the visit of the party's women delegation to Kharsawan was following a directive from national president of All India Mahila Congress, Sushmita Dev. "We have written to the Chief Minister demanding Rs 50 lakh compensation and a Government job for the widow," said Sinha.
National secretary of All India Mahila Congress, Deepika Pandey Singh, was also part of the delegation said, " The law and order situation in the State has gone for a toss. Crimes like mob lynching, attrocities on women and naxal attack on police, which is on the rise in Jharkhand, is a matter of great concern."
“Rising incidents of mob lynching seem to be more in the news than stories about the development of Jharkhand. It is hoped elected Governments in the States and the Centre usher in preventive, remedial and punitive measures as suggested by the apex court without any delay,” said a local social activist.
