Metro code for Game of Thrones

Tuesday, 21 May 2019 | GAYATHRI MANI | NEW DELHI

In order to generate awareness among the commuters especially those who play songs loudly disturbing the fellow passengers, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has advised the commuters to maintain decorum while playing ‘Game of Thrones’ (GOT) season finale on their mobile phones. The DMRC has urged passengers to use earphones while catching up on final episode of Season 8.

The Delhi Metro which makes frequent audio announcements in every 15 minutes requesting the travelers not to play songs and videos loudly inside the metro, has issued a spoiler alert for GOT, asking the commuters to use earphones while watching the season finale of the series in the metro. DMRC took its social media sites such as Twitter, FaceBook (FB) and Intagram to create awareness among the customers.

“Last stop of the season! Catch up on the Train of Thrones, but don’t go spoiling it for others. If you’re watching it on the metro, please be sure to use earphones,” DMRC posted in its Twitter handle.

The infamous HBO’s epic fantasy drama series premiered in the year 2011, ended on Monday after releasing the season finale with complete eight seasons and 73 episodes.

With issuing the spoiler alert through posting tweet, the Delhi Metro also carried a animated poster of Sansa Stark, played by Sophie Turner. The Poster depicts a message and animated picture of stark watching her mobile with earphones plugged in.

“Sansa is catching up on the Train of Thrones she uses headphones.  She does not spoil it for others. Be like Sansa,” read the poster.

“We usually find different ways to educate the passengers about the rules and regulations of DMRC and do’s and don’ts inside the metro train but this time everyone especially youths are more excited to complete their GOT season finale. Also, metro is a place where people chose to listen to songs and watch movies to pass their time till reaching their destination.

Thus, this is another creative idea of DMRC to educate the passengers. Also, DMRC make audio announcements urging the passengers not to play songs and videos in loudspeaker frequently in every 15 minutes,” said a senior DMRC official.

The official also said that DMRC also receives frequent complaint and feedback from the passengers regarding the noise disturbance inside the metro.

“How do we stop uncles and aunties to listen bhajan sandhya on loudspeakers?,” Vipin Barolia, replied to DMRC as soon its posted the tweet.

While some metro travelers asked DMRC to increasing charging points. “Can we have more charging plugs?? As it’s difficult to charge at Senior citizen seat,” tweeted Nikunj Bali.

In a meanwhile, people from other cities have lauded the efforts of the Delhi Metro authorities for taking such steps.

It would be pertinent to mention here that hugely popular “Game of Thrones” is a web and TV series based on American author George RR Martin’s epic fantasy novels, “A Song of Ice and Fire”.
