MCD returns materials seized from 50 vendors

Tuesday, 14 May 2019 | PNS | DEHRADUN

As part of routine action, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Monday returned the materials seized from vendors encroaching on roadsides and public space. After a fortnight of conducting a drive against vendors encroaching in different parts of the city the materials of the vendors including carts and products for sale were released after collecting penalty from them. Nearly 50 vendors came on the first day to MCD for taking back their materials. For the first time officials also made vendors sign an affidavit stating that they would not encroach on government land again failing which strict action will be taken against them by the officials.

Adding further in this the MCD land department superintendent Dharmesh Painuly said, “Nearly 50 vendors came to take back their seized materials on Monday. The minimum fine imposed was Rs 800 while the maximum was Rs 6000 per vendor. This is for the first time that we are making vendors sign an affidavit stating that they will not encroach on any government land. If any of the vendors will be found to do so strict action will be taken by us. We have also formed two teams- one is assigned to return the seized material and the other team is regularly working in the city to seize the materials or impose fine against encroachers.”
