Naveen Patnaik's Government is shedding crocodile tears in the name of development of Odisha and Odias whereas the unemployment scenario has turned grim in the State, alleged PCC president Niranjan Patnaik on Tuesday.
In a statement, he said there is no scope of direct recruitment for the unemployed mass. On the other hand, the Government has snatched away the scope of contract work from them. Around 70 per cent of the contract jobs is being awarded to non-Odias.
Patnaik said that as per the 2014 data, the percentage of jobless graduates was highest in the State. When it was around 15 per cent, the unemployment rate in case of postgraduates was 8.2 per cent. A Labour Bureau report says there was no skilled job creation made in Odisha. Also, the job opportunities provided by the Employment Exchanges have gone down by 84 per cent during 2010 to 2014. On the other hand, the number of registered jobless youth in the Employment Exchanges has increased to 11 lakh.
Besides, there are lakhs of youths who have not enrolled their names in search of jobs. In such a scenario, the State Government is offering contracts to outsiders at higher rates, which is clearly a cruel joke on the Odias, said Patnaik.
