YAD’s core committee formed

Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal on Thursday formed the core committee of party’s youth wing — Youth Akali Dal (YAD), besides making some important appointments in the organization including spokespersons, a secretary general and a district president. After holding extensive deliberation with YAD’s general secretary in-charge and MLA Bikram Singh Majithia, Sukhbir said that there will be six members in the core committee. Besides, Sartej Singh Bassi and Tajinder Singh Nijhar have been appointed Doaba Zone’s secretary general, and YAD’s Jalandhar rural district president, respectively.

Two-day citrus show at Abohar on Jan 22, 23

Chandigarh: Punjab Horticulture Department is all set to organize two-day citrus show in Abohar Citrus Estate on January 22 and 23 to boost the crop diversification in the state. The state’s special secretary and director (Horticulture) Sibin C said that entries comprising fresh fruits of different citrus varieties as well as different citrus products would be displayed on the first day. He said that approximately 5,000 entries are expected. Judging will be done on the same day by experts from PAU. Besides, technical session would be held on January 23.

Final publication of voter list by Jan 31

Chandigarh: The Election Commission of India has issued a letter to extend the date of final publication of voter list to January 31, 2019. Punjab Chief Electoral Officer’s spokesperson said that earlier, the date for final publication of voter list with respect to January 1, 2019, as qualifying date was scheduled to be on January 19 (Saturday), but after the revised programme, the final publication has been slated for January 31 (Thursday).

Symposium on Ayushman Bharat at PU

Chandigarh: A symposium on Central Government’s flagship scheme, Ayushman Bharat, will be organized by the Panjab University’s Department of Public Administration, in association with the Society for the Promotion of Ethical and Affordable Health Care (SPEAK) India at ICSSR Complex, Panjab University on Friday. Punjab Health Minister Brahm Mohindra will be the chief guest, while the list of eminent speakers includes Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor Prof BS Ghuman, PU’s DUI Prof Shankarji Jha, Chandigarh health Services Director Dr G Dewan, among others.

IRIA’s annual conference held

Chandigarh: The 72nd annual conference of the Indian Radiology and Imaging Association (IRIA) organized by the Chandigarh Chapter of IRIA in collaboration with the Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, PGIMER, started on Thursday in the Institute. On day 1, the IRIA’s academic body Indian College of Radiology and Imaging (ICRI) makes the guidelines for radiology reporting and practices in the country. ICRI also organizes focused sessions in the annual meeting every year on various topics of interest.
