Former MLA’s missing daughter appears through social media

Sunday, 20 October 2019 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Former BJP MLA’s daughter Bharti Singh, who had gone missing four days ago, has now appeared through social media accusing his family of harassing her. She claimed that she has filed a petition in Madhya Pradesh High Court, seeking protection from her family.

On the other hand, her father Surendranath Singh has claimed that Bharti was mentally unstable. Even in the missing complaint filed with the Kamla Nagar police in Bhopal, the family had said that Bharti was mentally unstable.

Twenty-six-year-old Bharti had been reported missing by her family since October 15. A ‘missing person’ complaint was lodged by her parents three days ago.

Since Saturday morning, her two videos went viral on Whatsapp in which she said she had left home on her own will and does not want to return home, as she was being harassed by her family.

Bharti said in the video that she was totally normal and not mentally unstable as claimed by her family. She also mentioned the name of her maternal cousin Sushil who, she alleged, had beaten her up. Bharti said she had been facing harassment for the last 10 years and she had left home on earlier too.

She said she was not with any Christian or Muslim person as was being rumoured, and requested that it should not be turned into a caste (religion) issue.

Later, on Saturday evening, former MLA Surendranath Singh told media persons at his residence that his daughter was mentally unstable and for the purpose, she was undergoing treatment and there was nothing more to the issue. Regarding Bharti’s claims on videos, Singh said that she is giving such statements probably because she has not taken her medicines.
