The court of additional district and sessions judge (II), Mohammed Sultan sentenced two men to 20 years rigorous imprisonment and monetary penalty for the gang rape of a differently abled 18 year old.
The advocate representing the state, Ghanshyam Pant said on Tuesday that the young lady who is mentally and physically challenged had gone missing on the evening of March 7 last year. After searching for her without success, her family members lodged a report in the Banbhoolpura police station. The family members questioned some people who said that they had seen a person named Moolchand and his accomplice Bhup Singh taking the victim towards Amla Chowki gate. The family members went to the location where they found the victim late at night in a scared condition. Since she is hearing and speech impaired, she told her mother in gestures that she had been raped by two persons.
The prosecution presented six witnesses in the court. After hearing both sides, the court sentenced the two to 20 years rigorous imprisonment under relevant sections of the IPC. One of the convicts, Moolchand is a native of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh while the other convict Bhup Singh hails from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.
