Notice will be issued to all those candidates of Chhattisgarh State Assembly election 2018 by concerned District Electoral Officers for non-submission of election expenses details as Thursday was the last date of submission.
As per the directive of Election Commission of India, all the candidates who contested polls were to submit the incurred expenditure during the assembly election by January 10, 2019.
Those candidates who not having submitted the account of poll expenditure would be issued notice by the concerned District Electoral Officers. As per the rule, those candidates who have not submitted the account details can be barred for three years from contesting the election.
Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo said that under Representation of the People Act, 1951, Section 78, each candidate has to submit the election related expenditure accounts within 30 days.
“The candidates have to submit the accounts within 20 days of receipt of notice issued by District Electoral Officers. The reply of candidate and comment of DEO is considered by Election Commission for taking final decision,” he said.
“If the ECI is not satisfied with the reply then under section 10 (A), the order is issued against the candidate, debarring him/her from fighting election for next three year and is published in Gazette,” he pointed out.
