A cyclist allegedly stole Rs 1 lakh from a merchant from Arhat Bazaar in broad daylight on Monday. He reportedly came after encashing a cheque from HDFC bank when the incident happened.
The complaint is registered at Kotwali, according to which Jagdish Prasad (65) was coming back from the bank when he got hit by a cyclist. The person helped him up and apologised and went his way. After that, Prasad realised that the money had been taken away and his pockets are empty.
Superintendent of Police (city) Shweta Choubey said, “We are looking at all angles of the incident. The CCTV footage around the crime scene is also being checked.”
According to sources, police are also looking into the angle that an accomplice of the culprit might have been inside the bank. On the basis of the description given by the victim of the cyclist, police are now searching for the culprit.
