The Pollution Control Board has made an arrangement at 13 places for bio-medical waste management in the state. GPS have been installed in 820 vehicles transporting medical waste at these places.
The bio-medical waste has been divided in 4 categories. For treatment of this waste various treatment systems like incineration, autoclaving, microwaving chemical treatment, cutting, grading and deep pits are mainly in use.
Most of the hospitals and private nursing homes are located in populated areas, owing to the absence of separate arrangement for waste disposal in hospitals and nursing homes, arrangements of these treatments have been made. About 11 tonne waste is being disposed off with scientific method daily
in the state.
In order to ensure constant monitoring of air quality in the main cities of the state, air quality is being monitored by installing Online Continuous Air Quality Monitoring System in Ujjain, Dewas, Mandideep, Singruali, Damoh, Rewa, Indore, Satna, Ratlam and Maihar.
