In yet another breakthrough in supply of illegal arms in the national Capital, a huge consignment of arms was seized with the arrest of a Mewat based arms supplier Ramzan (30) by Delhi Police Special Cell, from DND flyover at outer ring road. 107 semi-automatic pistols were recovered from his possession, police said Thursday.
According to police, the semi-automatic pistols were primarily sourced from a manufacturer based at Umarti Village in Madhya Pradesh. “These illegal weapons are further supplied to other criminals of Haryana and western UP,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah stated in the official release. Information was received on Wednesday regarding the accused person who was set to arrive near DND flyover to deliver a consignment of arms. Following this, a team of Special Cell laid a trap and Ramzan was arrested. He was found with 10 pistols in his possession, the DCP revealed.
“During questioning, he disclosed that he along-with his associates had brought the consignment from Madhya Pradesh, of which 10 pistols were to be delivered to a receiver in outer ring road. Therefore, he had to take a detour from Gurgaon to Delhi, while he was on his way to Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, where the rest of the weapons were to be supplied,” said the DCP. On further interrogation of the accused Ramzan, police were able to recover 97 semi-automatic pistols which were found inside a Honda city car at Mehrauli - Badarpur road, near Tuglaqabad fort.
“With his arrest, we were able to identify their entire network,” said the DCP, adding that, they are further trying to identify his backward and forward links.
