3 members of Moradabadi gang arrested

The Delhi Police has arrested three criminals associated with ‘Moradabadi gang’ who used to commit burglary in posh areas of Delhi and its peripherals. The accused have been identified as Sharif (50), Fahim (26) both permanent residents of Moradabad in Uttra Pradesh and Shahid (44) a resident of Usman Pur, Delhi.

“The accused Sharif is the gang leader of Moradabadi gang. He along with his nephew Fahim and Shahid used to patrol on scooty in the posh areas of Delhi and NCR during day time as vegetable sellers. They used to spot the houses by giving their pamphlets of fruits and vegetables to the residents of premise,” said Devendra Arya, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South West district.

“The accused used to break into the locked premises, wearing gloves so that their finger prints could not be spotted. All of them used to commit crime during day time,” the DCP added.

“Several incidents of  burglary were reported in South West district following which a team was deputed to nab criminals involved in such acts. On May 14, specific inputs were received that three desperate armed burglars cum robbers, who were spotted in various CCTV footages, will come near Rangpuri area to meet one of their friend,” said the DCP.

“Acting on the tip off, a trap was laid and all three accused were apprehended after a brief chase. During checking police also recovered one loaded country made pistol with one live cartridge, two buttoned knives, house breaking equipment and one scooty from the possession of the accused,” said the DCP.

“During interrogation it was revealed that the accused Sharif is an absent Bad Character of Moradabad police station from last 10 years. Sharif also disclosed his previous involvements in more than 30 cases of burglary and various types of cases. The other two who are also found involve in several cases of burglary had joined Sharif to earn quick money,” said the DCP.
