As many as 24,98,930 people belonging to 7,74,778 families have been issued ration cards under the State Food Security Yojana (SFSY) till date, informed Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain in the State Assembly on Wednesday.
Replying to a question of Congress member Suresh Kumar Routray, the Minister said ration cards issued to beneficiaries selected through nine exclusion and 11 inclusion standards set by the Government.
The State Government is spending Rs 480 crores from its own funds to implement the sheme. All beneficiaries are being provided 5 kg rice at Rs 1 per month since the scheme was implemented on October 2, 2018.
Replying to additional questions put by Prasant Behera (BJD), Mohan Majhi (BJP) and Souvic Biswal (BJD), the Minister said applying to the scheme is a continuous process and people can apply through Ration Card Management System (RCMS) for inclusion in the scheme. The State Government is committed that no eligible person is left out of the scheme, he asserted.
