The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested two men involved in over a dozen cases of robbery and snatching after a shootout at Wazirabad’s Burari road on Tuesday night. Police have also recovered police uniforms, two country-made pistols and a stolen bike from the possession of the accused.

The accused have been identified as Ravi (26) and Mustakim alias Buddha (51)— both residents of UP’s Bijnour district. Police said that Ravi has been found involved in over a dozen cases of attempt to murder, robbery, snatching, theft and gangster Act registered in Delhi and UP while another accused Mustakim has also been found involved in various cases of theft and snatching registered in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

According to Pramod Kumar Kushwaha, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Special Cell, the incident took place at around 10.15 PM on Tuesday night when a police team stationed on Wazirabad-Burari road near Jagatpur flyover spotted a bike coming from Wazirabad side and signalled it to stop but the bike-borne miscreants opened fire on police team.

"The duo fired four rounds, forcing police to retaliate resulting in one of the accused Ravi suffering bullet injury in his leg.                 The second accomplice, Mustakin was apprehended unhurt," said the DCP adding that the injured was admitted to a nearby hospital for the treatment and his condition is said to be stable.

"During interrogation it was revealed that the duo had identified many big targets in posh areas of Delhi and its peripherals including South-East and North Delhi. The accused were about to execute their plan in coming days with deadly weapons but their luck ran out and they were nabbed by the police team," said the DCP.
